In a time when good news in the financial industry is rare, a local bank is pleased to announce signs of progress and growth with updates to its home office facility.
Anderson Brothers Bank recently completed extensive renovations to its home office in Mullins, a measure necessitated by the bank’s continued growth. Within recent years the bank has penetrated new markets and has enhanced its presence in existing markets by adding new branches in Florence, Horry and Georgetown counties.

To accommodate the growth, ABB recently renovated its home office on Main Street in Mullins to better house its management and support staff.
The renovations facilitated the reclamation of approximately 5,000 square feet of office space that now houses the bank’s information technology department. In addition, the bank completed renovations and improvements to the bookkeeping, human Resources and compliance departments.

A Marion Contractor assisted the bank with the renovations. Atkinson Construction served as the general contractor of the project.
Atkinson Construction’s President Larry Atkinson said, “During the early 20th century, most of the Main Street buildings for small towns were constructed with a common wall separating the buildings, therefore reducing the cost of the construction.”
Contractors learned that a two-foot by 12-foot rough sawn wood member would span 24 feet and support the minimum load that was typical for the time period. Little did they know that one day, 20 or more people-related equipment could be housed in a work environment on this floor.

Through the engineering efforts of Atkinson Construction, the Main Street buildings housing Anderson Brothers Bank’s home office in Mullins have been reinforced to yield usable second floor space that now houses the banks IT Department.
“This project has allowed the bank the opportunity to reclaim space that otherwise may have not been usable in today’s office environment,” added Atkinson.

David Anderson, the bank’s President and CEO, said he is pleased with the outcome of the project and the additional office space. “The reclamation of office space and the subsequent renovations were vitally important as we position ourselves for continued future growth,” he said.
