JOHNSONVILLE - It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day or crowd of attendees for the Ground Breaking Ceremony last Thursday, April 24, at 4 p.m. for the new Johnsonville Public Library.
Master of Ceremony was Ray McBride, Director, Florence County Library System. Welcoming the dignitaries and other guests was Dr. Julia G. Mims, Chair, Library Board of Trustees. The Reverend Theron B. Scott, Pastor, Westside Freewill Baptist Church, gave the Invocation. Other platform guests included Ken Ard, Florence County Council; Robbie Dawkins, representative of Senator Hugh Leatherman; Lester P. Branham, Jr. Representative, District 61 and J. Steven Dukes, Mayor of Johnsonville.

Immediately following remarks by the guest speakers, they turned the dirt in a shovel ceremony where the library will be located on the east side of Highway 41, across from Johnsonville High School.
