Deborah Baker
FORK - Deborah Ann Miller Baker, 45, died Monday, April 27, 2009 in her home after an illness. She was born July 28, 1963 in Marion County, a daughter of the late William Lee Wimpy Miller and the late Lois Donzell Cooper Miller.
Debbie was a homemaker and a loving daughter, mother and sister. She was a member of Praise Temple Church.
Surviving Debbie are a brother, Randy Lee Miller of Fork; a son, Charles Harris Strickland III of Mullins; her husband, Jake McCain Baker of Fork; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by a daughter, Brittany Anne King. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. April 29 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, with the Rev. Eddie Baker officiating. Services were directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
Agnes S. Collins
NICHOLS - Agnes Stroud Collins, 71, widow of Charlie Collins Jr., died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after an illness. She was born March 24, 1938 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Marcus and Edith Godbold Stroud. Mrs. Collins retired as a supervisor from Heritage Sportswear in Marion.
Surviving Mrs. Collins are her children: Marcus (Mary) Collins of Nichols, Marie Ferguson of Mullins and Larry (Lisa) Collins of Nichols; a stepdaughter, Sandra (Paul) Altman of Galivants Ferry; her grandchildren: Amanda Garrison, Ashley Ferguson and her fiance' Eric Collins and Nickolas Collins; and a sister, Janie Gerrald.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29 in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cembetery, with the Rev. Scott bass officiating. Services were directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.

Mitchell Harrelson
MULLINS - Mitchell Marion Harrelson, 84, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. He was born April 30, 1924 in Marion County, a son of the late Sam Clyde Harrelson and the late Minnie Mae Frye Harrelson.
Mr. Harrelson was an owner and operator of Harrelson Body Shop for over 50 years. He was also former owner of Mullins Ambulance Service and a member of the Mullins Rescue Squad. Mr. Harrelson was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 6122, where he had served as chaplain and a member of American Legion Post 89.
Mr. Harrelson was an active member of Gapway Baptist Church, where he was Deacon Emeritus and had served as treasurer, a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church choir. Mr. Harrelson was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Martha Martin Harrelson.
Surviving Mr. Harrelson are a son, Robert M. Harrelson of Mullins; three daughters, Barbara (Pat) Baker of Mullins, Nancy (Evans) Collins of Mullins and Teresa (Mike) Crowley of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Summer, Jeanna, Carmen, Mitch, Matthew and Amelia; his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ian, Mallory, Collins and Patrick; two brothers, Norman Harrelson and Mack Harrelson, both of Mullins; and two sisters, Doris Ann McMillan and Evelyn Smith, both of Mullins.
Mr. Harrelson was also predeceased by four brothers, Sam, Charles, Colon and Frank and a sister, Dottie Jean Jordan. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 30 in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, with the Rev. Chip Scruggs and the Rev. Steve Bailey officiating. Elvie Lane Prevatte
MARION - Elvie Lane Prevatte, 92, died Sunday, April 26 in her home after an extended illness. A graveside service was at 3 p.m on May 1 at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Prevatte was born in Johnson County, N.C., a daughter of the late James Harvey Lane and Addie Wilkerson Lane. She was also predeceased by her husband, Hinson James Prevatte. Mrs. Prevatte was retired from New Carolina Industries and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker's Union.
Surviving her are her sons, Earl Owens of Dillon, Gene A. Owens of Temple, Texas, James D. Owens of Kentucky and Bobby D. Owens of Marion; daughters, Irene Brown of Marion and Irene Diana Akers of Zebulon, N.C.; a sister, Carrie Johnson of Mullins; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary Alice Turner
MARION - Mary Alice Turner, 74, died Friday, May 1 in her home after an extended illness. Services were at 3 p.m. May 4 at the Richardson Funeral Home and burial followed in Palmetto Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Turner was born in Latta, a daughter of the late Less and Sula Hood Lane. She was also predeceased by a son, James Mitchell Turner. She worked for 25 years at Sara Lee Hosiery and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, Latta.
Surviving her are her husband, William Turner; son, Glen Turner of Marion; daughters, Sherry A. Carrigan of Marion and Kay King of Evergreen, N.C.; sisters, Marie Frazier and her husband Prentice of Fayetteville, N.C., and Gail Eskridge of Marion; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
