Lelia J. O’Neal
Savannah - Lelia Jones O’Neal, 90, wife of Seavy Highsmith O’Neal, died Monday, March 23, 2009 in Hospice Savannah in Georgia after an illness. She was born Sept. 20, 1918 in Marion County, a daughter of the late John Wesley Jones and the late Susan Victoria Floyd Jones. Mrs. O’Neal was a homemaker and a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church in Savannah.
Surviving Mrs. O’Neal, in addition to her husband of Savannah, are two sons, Walker A. “Sam” O’Neal and his wife, Maree of Savannah and Seavy H. O’Neal Jr. and his wife Nancy of Savannah; three grandchildren, Lisa Bean and her husband Sammy of Iron Station, N.C., Seavy H. O’Neal III and his wife Amie of Athens Ga., and Benjamin O’Neal of Birmingham, Ala.; three great grandchildren, Seavy H. O’Neal IV, Dolan O’Neal and Sarah Bean; and a sister, Nelle Lewis of Florence.
Graveside services were on March 26 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins. Services were directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. Memorials may be made to White Bluff United Methodist Church, 11911 White Bluff Rd., Savannah, 31419 or to Hospice Savannah, 1674 Chatham Parkway, Savannah, 31406.
