Woman accused of trying to burn friend's belongings

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Bennettsville woman was arrested and charged with two counts of arson Saturday after investigators said she tried to set her friend’s clothing and bed on fire, Bennettsville Police Lt. John Hepburn said.

The two women were arguing over money when Patrice Latoria Watson, 23, of 503 Third Ave., Bennettsville, tried to set the other woman’s belongings on fire, Hepburn said.

This wasn’t the suspect’s first attempt to settle her disputes with fire, Hepburn said.

“She was charged with burning an apartment at 128 Evergreen Court,” he said. “This took place on Jan. 9, 2009. She also damaged a 1998 Toyota Corolla.”

Hepburn said the total damages in January amounted to roughly $22,000.

Watson also faces two counts of malicious damage to property in this latest incident, he said.
