A Lamar man died Wednesday in Lynches River following a boating accident, Lee County Coroner Alford Elmore said.

Randy Hall, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene about 8:30 p.m., Elmore said.

Hall and his nephew entered the water near S.C. 401 in Lee County in a boat they wanted to test, the coroner said.

The two men were traveling down the river when the boat overturned.

Hall’s nephew reached the shoreline and went to find help, but Hall couldn’t swim.

His body was later found by EMS workers who responded to the scene, Elmore said.
