Dillon residents lose power after truck hits power pole

»  Comments | Post a Comment

More than 1,450 people in Dillon lost power Monday after a logging truck hit a power pole, according to Progress Energy officials.

Mindy Taylor, spokeswoman for the company, said some of the customers regained their electricity within 20 minutes, while the majority had full power within 40 minutes.

“We were able to do some switching and feed the power in from an alternate direction,” she said. “When (the truck driver) hit the pole, he knocked an entire feeder out,” she said.

The remaining customers had power returned to them by 4:30 p.m., Taylor said.

No charges have been filed in the incident, according to the Dillon Police Department.
