In recent days you have seen news articles about the “Pee Dee Republicans” — as defined by one of their members, they are an online, Facebook, activist group.
As you read some of their writings and listen to some of their leaders, you might get the impression that they want to take control of the Florence County Republican Party. In Pee Dee’s proposed elected officers, one, identifies herself as the “Florence County State Executive Committee Representative.”
As you may know, that is an elected position currently held by Shelby Phillips.
As you look at some of their leadership and some of their proposed elected officers you will find:
n some who only come out to work and support the Republican Party during state and national elections;
n some who very rarely, if ever, attend the party’s monthly meetings;
n some, who have never before participated and even one, when on occasion in the past had been asked to help restart the FMU College Republicans, said he didn’t have time.
