Grand Strand Animal Shelter re-opens

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Grand Strand Animal Shelter re-opened its doors Tuesday morning.

The shelter closed at the end of February after some dogs showed signs of distemper.

One of the dogs that tested positive for the virus was euthanized, while two others were quarantined.

Those two dogs will be in isolation for 90 days.

The shelter now says there are no more signs of distemper and are now open for business.

The Grand Strand Humane Society says distemper can be prevented and asks everyone to vaccinate their dogs.

They are offering a vaccination clinic this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The shelter is located off 10th Avenue North, just past Myrtle Waves.
