Clemson University and the University of Georgia Extension Service will conduct a beef cattle forage seminar in the Marion County Extension Office at 206 Airport Court, Suite C, Mullins, on March 10.
The program, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will cover strategies for tight budgets and minimal risk associated with pasture and hay land. The seminar is free to participants and pesticide and CCA credits have been applied for. Supper will be served.
The program will cover several important strategies for tight budgets including, costs and risks in the cow-calf enterprise, hay storage and feeding losses, grazing management strategies to improve efficiency and reduce risk, making fertilizer investment less risky and more efficient, and more. Speakers include John Andrae, forage crop specialist, Clemson University; Curt Lacy, extension livestock economist, University of Georgia; Lawton Stewart, extension beef nutritionist, University of Georgia; Dennis Hancock, forage extension specialist, University of Georgia; Julia Gaskin, sustainable agriculture coordinator, University of Georgia; and others.
The forage seminar is free and includes a notebook containing copies of the presentation and fact sheets related to each topic. Space is limited.
