POW/MIA monument to be dedicated in Florence

A dedication ceremony for a new POW/MIA monument will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at the Veteran’s Park in Florence.

In press release from Rolling Thunder, South Carolina Chapter 4 in Florence, announced the dedication of a POW/MIA monument. The Florence Veteran's Park is located behind the Florence City/County Civic Center on Woody Jones Parkway.

Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 initiated fund raising efforts in early 2008 to commission the design and creation of an American black granite monument honoring ALL our brothers and sisters, both living and deceased, who are or were POW/MIA (Prisoners of War, Missing in Action).

The group states thanks to the generosity of the public, sponsors and region businesses, they were able to build and pay for this beautiful monument in just
under one year.
