Williamsburg Tech program earns national accreditation

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Williamsburg Technical College’s early childhood program recently received a two-year accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The accreditation was based on the NAEYC commission review of the program self-study reports, the peer review team report and the program’s written response. The aim of accreditation is to promote positive student outcomes which are realized as a result of program graduates being properly trained in the Williamsburg Tech program.

Under the leadership of instructor Earlene Walker-Kelly, the associate in public service with a major in early care and education is designed to prepare individuals for employment in a variety of educational and child care programs for children through school age. Graduates are prepared to assume positions in programs such as Head Start, public schools as paraprofessionals, child care, after-school care, public or private preschools or kindergartens, or working with children with special needs.
