Lillie Kathryn Chandler and Clifford Paul Smith, both of Sumter, were married at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sumter.
Lillie Kathryn Chandler and Clifford Paul Smith, both of Sumter, were married at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sumter. The Rev. Dr. Walton Romfelt Kendall and the Rev. John Wilson Bradham III officiated the ceremony.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Harold Chandler of Sumter and a granddaughter of Mrs. Barbara Chandler of Greeleyville and the late Harold S. Chandler and Mrs. and Mrs. James Dargan McElveen Jr. of Lake City.
The bride is a graduate of Laurence Manning Academy and is pursuing an Associate Degree in Office Systems Technology from Central Carolina Technology Center and is employed by the Art Shop in Sumter.
The bride wore a white Satin Allure Couture gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, a heavily embellished bodice with a basque waistline, cathedral train and veil. She carried her maternal grandmother’s lace handkerchief in her hand-tied bouquet of white roses, white calla lilies and lily of the valley.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gene Smith of Sumter and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Eugene Smith of Beaufort and Lt. Col. and Mrs. Richard Paul Miller of Poway, Calif. He graduated from Lakewood High School and received an Associate Degree in Industrial Technology with a major in Industrial Technology from Central Carolina Technical College and is employed by Power Audio as a technician.
Maids of honor were Morgan Lindsey McElveen and Magen Macaulay McElveen, cousins of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Jamie Kaye McElveen, Logan Elizabeth McElveen and Marguerite Christian Howell, all cousins of the bride; Dana Jean Williams, sister of the groom; and Claudia Elizabeth Carter, Sydney Josette Van Buick, Brittany Molina Baker and Tiffany Marie Andrews, all friends of the bride.
Flower girls were Lucy Spain Matthews and Edgin Ray Wadford.
Best man was the father of the groom, and groomsmen were William Phillip Chandler, brother of the bride; Preston Gibbons McElveen, cousin of the bride; Joshua Allen Williams, brother-in-law of the groom; Weldon Eugene Smith, Ryan Michael Smith, Thomas Chandler Smith, William Thomas Smith and Justin Curtis Stuckey, all cousins of the groom; and Allen Thomas McLamb and Aaron Jackson Lay, friends of the groom. Junior groomsmen were Samuel Andrew Chandler, cousin of the bride, and Hunter Austin Williams, nephew of the groom.
Ringbearer was Bryson Allen Williams.
Music was provided by Mrs. Ann Diller, organist and pianist; the Rev. Stuart Mizelle, vocalist; Evan Lewis Thompson, trumpeter; Cameron Kloot, bagpiper; Christian Kloot, drummer; and Mrs. Marty Giltinan, flutist.
A reception followed at the Church of the Holy Comforter Parish Hall. After a wedding trip, the couple will live in Sumter.
