»  Comments | Post a Comment

Coker College has a new partner in education.

The college is joining forces with the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide a $5,000 scholarship to qualifying veterans under the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Pro-gram (Yellow Ribbon Program).

In some cases, this will allow qualifying Post-9/11 veterans to attend Coker College for free.

The $5,000 scholarship program begins with the 2009-2010 academic year. The Yellow Ribbon Program is for veterans who have served 36 months of active duty. It is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

For information about the Yellow Ribbon Program and state residency requirements, go to www.gibill.va.gov. To speak to Coker College's VA benefits coordinator, call Angela White at 1-800-950-1908 or e-mail awhite@coker.edu.

Coker is an independent, comprehensive liberal arts college founded in 1908. The living and learning environment at Coker fosters participation in the community of scholarship and the development of ethical character, leadership skills and social responsibility. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Coker one of America's Best Colleges. The Princeton Review rates Coker a Best Southeastern College based on academic reputation and student satisfaction.
