St. James High School JROTC cadets to participate in national leadership symposium

Four cadets of the St. James High School JROTC will travel to Washington DC for the Army JROTC Leadership Symposium on June 26-30.

According to a news release from Horry County Schools, the cadets earned the honor of participating in this event through an online competition.

Forty-eight teams were chosen among 1,605 schools to attend the symposium where cadets will participate in leadership training and service learning projects on the campus of George Mason University, as well as the Washington, DC Mall and monument areas.

Participating cadets are: Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Shelbby Hammond; Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Blain Atkinson; Cadet Master Sergeant Zachary Bratz; and Cadet Staff Sergeant Jefferson Jewell. The team’s Senior Army Instructor is Col. Steve Cellucci, USA (R).
