Little River man arrested for burglary, attempted CSC

Horry County Police arrested a Little River man for burglary and attempted criminal sexual conduct.

According to a press release, police responded to a home on Hwy. 57 South in the Little River around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a burglary.

Police said a female victim reported that she came home after being gone all day a black male came out of the kitchen with a pistol and demanded money from her.

After he took the money from her, the suspect attempted to sexually assault the victim. The victim told the suspect there were other family members that were coming to the house, and he better leave.

The suspect then left the residence on foot.

Police later arrested and charged Deeane Richard Smith, 47, of Little River with burglary, 1st degree, attempted criminal sexual conduct and felon in possession of a firearm.

Smith is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the J Ruben Long Detention Center.
