A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a Mullins assault and robbery case, Mullins Police Chief Kenneth Davis said Tuesday.

Jeremy Page, 21, of 2521 Little Proffit Road, Mullins, was arrested by Mullins Police Detectives and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies at his residence without incident. He is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and armed robbery.

Darrell Smith, 22, of 104 Forest Court, Mullins, was arrested by Mullins police without incident at a relative’s residence Monday morning and is charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with intent to kill, Davis said.

The crimes happened June 20 at the Meadow Park apartment complex on Dogwood Drive, where a man was robbed of “a significant amount of cash at knifepoint,” cut twice and beaten severely, Davis said. The victim was treated at an area hospital for his injuries.

Page and Smith remain in custody at the Marion County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The investigation continues and more arrests are possible, Davis said.
