Doris Sellers Todd

Mullins – Doris Sellers Todd, 71, widow of Pearley Robert “Junior” Todd, Jr., died Thursday, June 11, 2009 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence after an illness.
She was born October 22, 1937 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Grier Edwin Sellers and the late Penny Lillian Cook Sellers. Mrs. Todd retired from Anvil Knitwear and was also a retired farmer. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Todd are a son, Robert (Betty) Todd if Mullins, a daughter, Sue (Tom) Strickland of Mullins, a stepdaughter, Jeanette (Leonard) Bullard or High Point, N.C., her grandchildren, Chris (April) Todd, Kelly Don Strickland, Joe (Laurie) Bullard, Sherry (Michael) Smith, and Patricia (Clay) Beeson, her great grandchildren, Karlee Todd, Michael Smith, Christopher Smith, Crissie Smith, and Robbie Beeson, 3 brothers, Ronald Lee “Bud” Sellers, Jimmy Sellers, and Edvan Sellers all of Aynor, 2 sisters, Lillie Mae Sellers and Virginia Hughes, both of Aynor, a special sister-in-law, Lillie Kate Sellers of Aynor, a special god-daughter, Dubree Ammons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Brown officiating. Burial followed in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Jimmy Carl Rabon

AynorJimmy Carl Rabon, age 52, of Louisville Road, died Thursday, June 11, 2009. Mr. Rabon was born in Horry County, a son of the late Arthur Burroughs Rabon and Mary Jane Anderson Rabon. He was former owner & operator of Palmetto Skylights Erectors. Mr. Rabon was currently owner & auctioneer at Rabon Auction Company/Barn Auction and was owner of Triple R. Farms. He was predeceased by one brother, Arthur Burroughs, Jr., one sister, Hazel Kinney. Mr. Rabon was a beloved husband, father and dear friend to many. You will be missed.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Gail Rabon, two daughters, Karon Renee'
Rabon and husband Britt Carroll, and Jaime Nicole Hardwick and husband
Craig, two sons, Jimmy Carl Rabon, Jr., and Dustin O'Brian Rabon all of
Aynor, three grandchildren, Lucas Hardwick, Ethan Carroll, and Carly Gail Carroll, ten sisters, Wilmina Skipper, Christine Barnhill both of Conway, Helen Lamb and husband Pete of Gibsonville, N.C., Libby Russell of Marion, Addie Bullard of Rockingham, N.C., Phyllis Stephens and husband Billy of Marion, Jean Martin and husband Lavern of Conway, Sandra Causey and Danny Tindall of Aynor, Becky Rabon and Victor D'Elia of Lexington, S.C., and Brenda Richardson and husband Marion of Mullins, three brothers, Robert Rabon of Conway, Doug Rabon and wife Stacy of Loris and Paul Rabon of Aynor, special father-in-law, James Perritt, a special nephew, Eddie Barnhill, two special sisters-in-law, Cynthia Smith and Norma Neisz, thirteen nieces and thirty four nephews.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday at Aynor Church of God with the Rev. Elbert Welch and the Rev. Gregg Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

Linda Turbeville Powers

Linda Turbeville Powers, 62, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, in her residence after an illness. Funeral Services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Union Baptist Church, Temperance Hill, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. Burial followed at Tabernacle Cemetery in Gresham.
Born in Marion, Ms. Powers was a daughter of the late Harley N. Turbeville, Sr. and Zola Brown Turbeville. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and a convenience store supervisor. She also was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp.
Surviving are two sons, Johnny David Collins and Donald Robert Powers, both of Marion, a daughter, Ronnie Lynn Gardner of Latta, a brother, Harley N. Turbeville, Jr. of Marion, a sister, Patricia Meredith of Wewahitchka, Fl, and nine grandchildren.

Constance Madelaine Foxworth Odum

Glenview, Ill. – Mrs. Constance Madelaine Foxworth Odum, died May 25, 2009, at peace and at home. She was 86.
Born and raised in Marion, Connie was a resident of Norfolk, Va. for over 50 years. She was an active charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church from its inception in 1955 until 2008, serving on many committees and boards.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lee Odum, her parents, LaVerne and Ella Foxworth, her sisters, Lura Dean Watson and Jean Sloan, her brother, Linwood Foxworth and her husband of over 65 years Captain Dwight Lee Odum.
She is survived by her daughter, Alison Paige Odum Vernon, her son-in-law, Charles Vernon, and two grandsons, Mark Lee and Gary Odum Vernon. A memorial service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Smith-Collins Funeral Home in Marion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Connie’s favorite charity, The Pam Sloan GHS Indigent Women’s Breast Cancer Fund, 4033 Highway 17 Bypass, Suite 111, P.O. Box 1269, Murrells Inlet, S.C. 29576. As a 22-year breast cancer survivor, Constance recognized the importance of quality care for all.

Darriel G. Kitchens Jr., MD

Marion – Darriel G. Kitchens, Jr., MD, age 87, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in his home after a long illness. Born in Metter, GA., he served in the 11th Armored Division during WWII and in the 7th (Bayonet Division) Infantry in the Korean War. After completing his medical training at Medical College of Georgia, he moved to Marion in 1957 where he practiced medicine until his retirement in 1993.
His is survived by his 2 sons, Darriel and Mark, and by his sister, Norma.
Services were at Richardson Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 30, at 2 p.m. Interment, with full military honors, followed at Florence National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Disable Veterans Association, P.O. Box 96648, Washington, D.C. 20009-6648.
