People find ways to beat the heat on first day of summer

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Temperatures throughout the weekend were in the upper 90s, with heat level indexes reaching above 100 degrees.

With the summer season starting on Father's Day this year, many people on the Grand Strand had the chance to spend the day outside. Even though it was hot outside, people we spoke to found ways to have an enjoyable day, despite the heat.

Dozens of people came out to Captain Dick's in Murrells Inlet to ride jet skis, and to go boating and fishing.

"Well, you can go fast and the wind feels great against your skin and the water's wonderful," said Bruce Long.

People also enjoyed the sunshine in their bathing suits on the beach along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

Melissa Thurpin of Reidsville said she came to Myrtle Beach this weekend to, "Go up to the pool, get in the ocean, cool off, and get a nice tan."
