The swimming advisories that were issued on June 17th for a section of both Horry County and Surfside Beach have been extended another 24 hours, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
“The affected area includes 200 feet above and below the pipe discharge at Nash Drive in Horry County and at 3rd Avenue North in Surfside Beach,” said Sean Torrens of DHEC’s Region 6 Environmental Quality Control office.
“High bacteria levels are still being detected in this section of the beach, and swimming is not advised until bacteria levels return to normal.”
