The seniors in the Lake City High School Transition program were treated to a formal dinner at Hibachi Grill in Florence on May 16. The dinner was made possible by the donations and support of local businesses.
During these tight economic times, those involved with Project Succeed, a self-contained program at Lake City High School, would like to express our gratitude to the following companies that have made contributions: Brunson Loadholt and Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union, Samuel A. Rodgers Jr. and Carolina Eastern, and Richard McCutcheon and The Citizens Bank of Lake City.
Brunson and Ana Loadholt, Roslyn and Jaqawnya McElveen, Pat Askins, and James and Joan Williams along with seniors Chanta Burgess, Jerome Gamble, Larry Rose, Martel Salters and Dwayne Williams attended the dinner.
The meal gave students an opportunity to demonstrate how to make healthy food choices while using proper etiquette, one of the program’s major curriculum requirements.
On a personal level, Joan Williams, the high school’s job coach, expresses thanks to all the contributors for their active participation in support of the students, who have set a new standard for social responsibility in the community as well as a powerful example that will inspire other companies and organizations to do the same for self-contained children.
Several students presented plaques to thank the donors for their contributions.
Joan Williams also would like to acknowledge Renee McDonald, manager of Shoe Show in Lake City; Christine Gamble, manager of Dollar General in Scranton; and Minnie Brown, director of the Lake City Senior Center for their help in providing community career training and competitive employment.
