The S.C. Department of Transportation has scheduled a public information meeting June 23 in Johnsonville concerning the proposed widening of a portion of S.C. 41 (Kingsburg Highway) in Kingsburg.

The meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Johnsonville Elementary School cafeteria, 160 E. Marion St. The meeting will have a drop-in format, with displays for viewing.

The meeting is intended to provide information concerning the proposed widening of S.C. 41 from East Trinity Road north of Johnsonville, to U.S. 378 (East Myrtle Beach Highway) in Kingsburg, and to solicit input from area residents.

Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization, on historic or cultural resources in the area. Representatives of SCDOT will be available to answer questions.

For more information, call SCDOT Program Manager Chris Gossett at (803) 737-1471 in Columbia. Those with disabilities who may require special accommodations should call Karen Davis at (803) 737-1549.
