Two Florence men have been sentenced for their roles in distributing crack cocaine, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins.
U.S. District Judge Bryan Harwell sentenced 50-year-old Jack Robert Odom to 20 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Harwell sentenced 35-year-old Roderick Lamart Ford to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine
On Dec. 13, 2007, an undercover ATF agent bought a firearm from Odom, a convicted felon, at Odom’s Paint and Body Shop on McIver Road. While out on a federal bond for that offense, Odom sold several ounces of crack cocaine to a confidential informant working with the State Law Enforcement Division. Ford, Odom’s drug supplier, was present during the sale.
Odom has prior convictions for possession of narcotics, disorderly conduct, contempt of court, resisting arrest and battery.
Ford has prior convictions for possession of crack cocaine, giving false information to police, failure to stop for a blue light, receiving stolen goods and shoplifting.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Rose Mary Parham of the Florence office prosecuted the case, which also was investigated by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
