Though the idea to bring back Atlantic Beach’s bike fest this the fall has not been made official a few biker associations are already working on getting out the word.
“It’s going to happen. I think it would be very important for the economy of both North and Atlantic Beach,” said John Glover, president of The Carolina Knight Riders.
Glover wasn’t he only one who supported the idea, bikers and local promoters Violet Lucas and Mac Vereen said that they are doing their best to get out the word by emailing, calling and texting local and out of state bikers.
"First us being local bikers, we will push for it to try to be a success in it because I think it will work for the city of Atlantic Beach," said Mac Vereen, president of Sportsman Motorcycle Club and Horry-Georgetown Biker Association.
"The fact that they are sending out an opened arm welcome invitation to the bikers is definitely a good look for them and it is definitely going to help their economic growth as well," said Violet Lucas business advisor for Horry-Georgetown Biker Association.
Last week Atlantic Beach town councilman proposed the event and mayor pro-tem Charlene Taylor said that she supports the idea if it will bring the town more money.
Town manager William Booker has been asked to research the idea and report to the council next month.
No dates however have been proposed.
