Animal shelter to have Grand Opening, Open House

The Marion County Animal Shelter, managed by Paws to the Rescue, will have a Grand Opening and Open House to raise money and awareness in the caring of the county's animals.

From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday the shelter will be the site of a microchip clinic, pony rides, a fishing contest, dunk the dogcatcher, game, funnel cakes and homemade strawberry shortcakes, face painting, a "jumpy house" for the kids, yard sale and much more, Shelter Manager Jennifer Nall said.

"We need lots of volunteers and attendees! Please let me know if you would like to help ..." Nall, executive director of Paws to the Rescue is reachable at (843) 423-8370.

Microchip inplants will be offered for $25 each, along with half-price grooming and nail trimming ... Food vendors will also be onhand for the day's activities. Come and support the abandoned shelter animals, Nall said.
