NORTH MYRTLE BEACH – The City of North Myrtle Beach Beach Services Division will be unveiling a new summer fun attraction in North Myrtle Beach – the world’s largest inflatable waterslide. The three-story inflatable waterslide will be set up on the beach between 1st and 2nd Avenues South in North Myrtle Beach and is scheduled to welcome its first riders on Friday.
“We are very eager and excited to be able to offer residents and visitors of North Myrtle Beach an exciting new attraction that will make lasting memories and help attract and retain visitors to our City,” said City of North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley. “This waterslide really is a one-of-a-kind, thrilling experience.”
Dubbed “The Hippo” by the manufacturing company FreeStyle Slides, the slide is 36 feet tall, nearly 180 feet long and weighs in at 3,700 lbs. To get to the top, riders must climb one of two 60-stair staircases, which come equipped with form-fitting handrails and non-slip grooves for a safe climb to the top. The most exciting part, though, is the wild ride to the bottom can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
The world’s largest inflatable waterslide is scheduled to be inflated on the beach Thursday, June 4, and Beach Services employee training will begin at 9 a.m. On Friday, the world’s largest inflatable waterslide will be open to the public and will operate beginning at 10 a.m. daily throughout the summer.
The waterslide is affordable for beachgoers at only $3 per ride or riders can purchase an all-day wristband for $20. Tickets and wristbands will be available for purchase at Ocean Park, which is located at 2nd Avenue South street end.
