World heavyweight wrestling champion Ric Flair will be the guest speaker at the United Fund of Marion County, Inc.'s annual fundraising Gala in September.
The world-reknown Flair, who went by the nickname "Nature Boy" and whose wrestling antics earned him titles and fame, will be in Marion County speaking to high school students and helping to kick-start the 2009-10 fundraising campaign for the Marion County helping agency.
Flair, a 16-time world champion, has entertained masses during his 25-year-plus wrestling career before officially retiring this past year and is known for his trademark "Wooo!" He was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Wrestling Hall of Fame on March 29, 2008.
The United Fund of Marion County raises money in Marion County to help Marion County agencies care for its citizens by providing services such as Meals on Wheels, transportation for medical needs and traveler's aid to various county fire departments, among other programs.

A Charlotte resident, Flair, signed with the Columbia-based Gillespie Agency, which manages his appearances. During his illustrious career, Flair was a National Wrestling Association champion, also winning, during the 1970s, World Tag Team titles with Blackjack Mulligan and Greg Valentine as his partners.
In the 1980s, Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes to become the NWA World Champion, according to the Flair biography online at About.com.
