Bennettsville man ambushed, stabbed

A Bennettsville man was taken to a hospital Wednesday after a unknown assailant jumped out of a wooded area and stabbed him, Bennettsville Police Lt. John Hepburn said.

It happened about 11:30 p.m. as the victim was walking through a wooded area on Fletcher Street, Hepburn said. That’s when someone approached the victim from behind and stabbed him in the arm.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he received stitches and was released, Hepburn said. He was unable to provide police with a clear description of the suspect.
