Longs man upset  with wife, charged with setting home on fire

A Longs man is charged with setting his home on fire Tuesday because his wife was not home.

According to a press release, Joe Preston Martin, 47, is charged with 2nd degree arson after police said he set fire to his home on Pint Circle near Longs around 7:05 p.m.

Martin told police he was upset when he found out his wife was not home and lit the mattress on fire in the bedroom.

He is being held in the J Ruben Long Detention Center.
