Georgetown, SC---Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the RCB Centura Bank at the corner of Ocean Highway and Blackgum Road in Litchfield around noon today in reference to an armed robbery. No one was injured during the holdup.
According to press release, a male entered RCB Centura Bank demanding money. The suspect was wearing black pants, black cape like garment draped around his upper body, black gloves, a black cloth around his head and facial area and sunglasses. The suspect was described as 5’9” to 5’11” approximately 160 to 165 pounds. It is undetermined at this time the race of the suspect due to his body being completely covered.
When the suspect entered the bank through the front door, he approached the teller at the counter, demanded money and advised that nobody would get hurt. After demanding money, the suspect gave the teller a bag which was filled with an undetermined amount of money. When the suspect retrieved the money, he exited the front door and ran north. During the robbery, the suspect did not brandish any type of weapon.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Bloodhound Team was deployed and tracked the suspect into the wooded area directly behind the bank in the direction the suspect ran. While tracking the suspect, Bloodhound Team members located some items from the robbery. As the track continued, it lead the Bloodhound back onto Blackgum Road were the suspect possibly got into a vehicle. Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators processed the crime scene and attempted to find any possible witnesses while other sheriff’s deputies were securing the perimeter.
