The Highway Patrol has charged a man with three counts of Felony DUI in connection to a crash that killed two Hartsville teens.
Monday afternoon, officers charged Dennis Carl Smith with two counts of Felony DUI resulting in death and one count of Felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury.
The crash happened at around midnight Friday at the intersection of U.S. 15 Bypass and Fifth Street in Hartsville
Artivas Gilbert Brown, 17, of Hartsville died Sunday from injuries sustained in the collision, after being airlifted to Richland Palmetto in Columbia, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee.
Brown’s cousin, Antonio Danquinton McFadden, 19, died at the scene, Hardee said.
Brown was a passenger in a Mazda driven by his grandmother when their car was rear ended by a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Smith, at the intersection according to information from Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
