Brunswick deputy charged and suspended following boat accident

CALABASH, NC - A Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputy has been suspended after he was charged in connection with a July 3rd boating accident.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s office, Deputy Charles Murray was involved in a boating accident in the waterway area of Holden Beach NC while off duty and while operating his personal watercraft.

NC Wildlife Resource officers charged Murray with Boating While Impaired and Reckless Operation of a boat.

As a result, Murray was suspended pending an investigation by the NC Wildlife Resource Commission as well as the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Division, the release said.
