MYRTLE BEACH - A North Carolina man accused of dragging a Myrtle Beach Police officer nearly two city blocks on Wednesday now faces additional charges.
Clark Tuttle, 25, of Lenoir, N.C., faces ten counts of assault with intent to kill, a one count each of assault and battery with intent to kill, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and having an open container.
According a a spokesperson for the Myrtle Beach City jail, a judge set bail Friday for Tuttle at $66,259 for all of the charges.
Police Department spokesman Capt. David Knipes says Officer Tony Allen pulled Tuttle over for a “drinking offense” around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
Knipes said the man started driving while Allen was standing next to his truck, driving south, and dragging the officer from 11th Ave. N. Ocean Blvd., to 9th Ave. N. Ocean Boulevard when the man's truck collided with four other vehicles.
Doctors treated Allen for minor injuries at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
