A Myrtle Beach police officer was dragged nearly two city blocks Wednesday.

Capt. David Knipes with the Myrtle Beach Police Dept. says the officer pulled over a man driving a truck for a "drinking offense" around 8:15 p.m.

He says the man started driving while the officer was standing next to his truck.

Police said the suspect drove south with the officer attached to his truck from 11th Ave. N. Ocean Blvd., and stopped right before 9th Ave. N. Ocean Boulevard where his truck ran collided with four other vehicles.

No names in the incident have been released.

The officer was treated at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and is expected to recover.
