Marion School District 2 officials recently recognized and honored teachers and students with the following recognitions.
Teresa McKenzie has been named Master Teacher for 2008-09
McKenzie was honored at the year-end breakfast as the district's Master Teacher for 2008-2009. A kindergarten teacher at North Mullins Primary, she received her bachelor of science degreem from Francis Marion University and her master's in education from Coastal Carolina University. She has taught for 24 years.
Honor Roll Teachers of the Year are Sherry Brantley (Mullins High School), John Williams (Palmetto Middle School), Barbara Baker (McCormick Elementary), Teresa McKenzie (North Mullins Primary) and Lindsay Beeson (Mullins Early Childhood Center).
Martha Jackson is Employee of the Year
Martha Jackson, named the MSD2 Employee of the Year, assists the district's finance director in the daily operations for the district and coordinates all the finance functions with the school bookkeepers, reconciles bank statements, records revenue, makes deposits and manages document files. Officials said she is "conscientious, accurate, dependable, honest and very knowledgeable in aspects of finance." She has worked at Marion 2 for 22 years.
Techeka Lasane is Bus Driver of the Year
Techeka Lasane was named the district's Bus Driver of the Year. According to officials, she "has the ability to handle her bus and her students in a very sturdy, professional way. She has worked consistently very day driving not only school bus to transport families enrolled in the Family Literacy Program." Lasane did not miss a day of work during the school year and hasn't had an accident, thus far. "She is very thorough in keeping her assigned bus clean and she turns in all of her paperwork in a timely manner," officials said.
Mollie Bethea-Floyd is Volunteer of the Year
Mollie Bethea-Floyd, the district's Volunteer of the Year, has served for two years with the Diamond Girl's Club at Palmetto Middle School. She is the originator of the club and encouraged other volunteers to work with the students. "We are proud of the work she has done at Palmetto Middle School," officials said.
