Marlboro County officials announce 15 drug arrests

BENNETTSVILLE -- The Marlboro County Multi Jurisdictional Narcotics Task Force announced the arrest of 15 individuals for narcotic related offenses, according to a release from the organization.

The arrests, which took place over a two-day period, were the result of an operation that started earlier in the year.

During this operation, several defendants were arrested that have prior records and that are on bond for pending charges.

According to the release, the following individuals were arrested:

  • Jacob Lewis Weaver was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of marijuana within half a mile of a playground

  • Jason Caulder was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana and within half a mile of a playground

  • David Liles was arrested and charged with trafficking crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine within proximity of playground and possession of marijuana

  • Tiana Morgan was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of marijuana within proximity of playground

  • Jason Dwight Witherspoon was arrested and charged with distribution of crack and distribution of crack within proximity of school

  • Lafayette McKiever Jr. was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of marijuana within proximity of a playground and possession with intent to distribute marijuana

  • Laquan Anthony Fox was arrested and charged with distribution of crack, distribution of crack in proximity of a school

  • Sheba Brown was arrested and charged with being an accessory before and after the fact to a felony

  • Keith Hicks was arrested and charged with distribution of crack and distribution of crack in proximity of playground

  • Phillip Coit was arrested and charged with distribution of crack

  • Damion Bruce was arrested and charged with distribution of crack

  • Deandrea Robinson was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana and possession of marijuana

  • Phillip Fair was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute crack

  • Katari Miller aka Katari Leak was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and failing to stop on command

  • Laron Fuller aka Broom was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana, distribution of marijuana in proximity of school (3 counts), possession with intent to dist marijuana

During these arrests, the Bennettsville police narcotics unit and Marlboro County Sheriffs Office were assisted by SLED, the Chesterfield County Sheriffs Office SRT team and the US Marshal’s Service.

During the arrests and execution of search warrants, more than $5,000 in currency was seized along with crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, computers, iPods and other electronics.

One search warrant resulted in the seizure of more than 80 grams of crack cocaine and more than $1,000 in drinks, snacks and liquor as the suspect was operating a bootleg liquor establishment and convince store, according to the release

“I would like to commend Sgt.. Larry Turner and Sgt. Brittany English for the work that they did during this investigation. We feel that we have again arrested three or four of the major suppliers in the county and city limits of Bennettsville and Clio,” Lt. Jamie Seals wrote in a press release.

Seals added some of the cases are likely to be reviewed for federal prosecution.
