Darlington County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with a home invasion nearly three weeks ago after which two people were shot.
Sherwin Antwain Carter, 20, of 223 Poplar Road, Hartsville was arrested without incident after a joint operation with the U.S. Marshal’s Service after Marlboro County sheriff’s deputies received a call about where he could be found, according to a press release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
The crime happened at a residence on Robinhood Road near Hartsville between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9. When deputies arrived, they found the victim who’d suffered a gunshot wound, according to Darlington County sheriff’s office reports
After a brief search of the area, deputies found two firearms in the woods near the victim’s house they believe were used in the shooting, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Deputies then were called to a local hospital where one of the two suspects believed to have been involved in the crime was being treated for a gunshot wound. The suspect, identified as Joshua Days of Hartsville, faces first-degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill and other charges, Capt. Andy Locklair said.
The second suspect, identified as Carter of Hartsville, faces the same charges, Locklair said.
Both men who were shot survived their injuries.
