»  Comments | Post a Comment

Florence City Council made no progress Monday afternoon on a proposed ordinance to have a public referendum to let voters decide whether city elections should remain partisan or be non-partisan.

Council member Buddy Brand motioned for it to be put on the agenda again for next month’s meeting.

In other business, the city is awaiting a revised architectural report on the Florence Humane Society shelter. In October, the plan came in at $1.25 million and the architect was asked to revise it down to $1 million. The shelter has raised about $500,000, including a grant from the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation. The city has to come up with a way to raise the rest of th funding.
