Crash kills one in Marion County

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Marion County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Marion County.

According to Trooper Sonny Collins, the incident happened shortly before Noon Monday on Highway 76 near Mullins.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said 41 year-old Kathy Coleman Williamson of Mullins and her son were involved in a minor traffic collision.

Richardson said she and her son got out of the vehicle and were then struck by another passing vehicle.

Williamson died at a local hospital.

There's no word on her son's injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
