Jan. 11 is the next community crime-watch meeting for those who want to stay informed about crime in Marion.

The meeting will be at 3 p.m. in fellowship hall at Church of the Advent Episcopal. (Corner of S. Main and E. Mullins streets) Chuck Funderburke is the keynote speaker.

Funderburke, a previous law enforcement officer, is SLED and NRA certified to teach concealed weapon training, a pistol shooting course, and self defense. He can schedule training dates at this meeting if anyone wishes to do so.

All residents, business operators, church leaders and government officials are invited. To reduce crime in our midst, good citizens must get involved and stay involved, organizers said. Sunday’s meeting is preliminary to the Marion City Council meeting, which will be at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 in City Hall on Main Street.

For information, call the Van Edwards at 423-1273 or Teresa Scholz at 423-6850.
