CONWAY - A Pawleys Island man, charged with Driving Under the Influence in connection with a deadly accident on Hwy. 544 Saturday, is out of jail.
J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records show 18-year-old Kenneth Glisson posted a $1000 bond and left the jail Saturday night.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol charged Glisson in connection with the head-on crash that killed 28-year-old Timothy William Hegarty of Myrtle Beach.
It happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Hwy. 544 near Woodwinds Road, about two miles east of Conway.
Troopers say Hegarty was traveling west when he crossed over the center line and struck a pick-up truck driven by Glisson, head-on.
Hegarty, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
Paramedics transported Glisson to Conway Medical Center for treatment before troopers charged him with DUI.
The Highway Patrol's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
