Students in Lake City are expressing their creative side to help one of their teachers.
A Lake City High School teacher is on medical leave after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Since then, the art and building construction students have used their skills to help their teacher.
Along with students, the art room is filled with clocks.
"I think for the students they feel like they are contributing to something bigger than they are," Krystal Gause, art teacher said.
The clocks cost $15, and each one sold is one step closer to saving their English teacher's life.
"She's just so young, and she told us her doctor told her she was the youngest person he'd known to get it other than a really younger girl," Jadia Smith, Lake City High School Student said.
Gause said as soon as they found out the English teacher had cancer; the students started making the clocks.
The idea came from a fellow co-worker.
"I hope that people realize it does happen close to home and I hope that it will help her a lot too," Smith said.
So far the project's raised around $900 and the students have made around 700 clocks.
"I think the ultimate goal is to make her feel like she loved," Gause said.
If you would like to purchase a clock, you can contact Lake City High School.
At the end of the year the students will give money generated to their teacher who is on medical leave.
