LITCHFIELD BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- A 1-year-old boy remains hospitalized after his mother and two others drowned when their boat capsized in a chilly South Carolina river.
Georgetown County sheriff's Sgt. Neil Johnson said the child was in the hospital Friday, two days after the accident. Johnson's condition was unknown Friday, but he was listed in critical condition Thursday at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The boy was found in the water Wednesday night after a small boat carrying six people capsized on the Waccamaw River. The boat was about 15 feet from shore.
Preliminary autopsy reports show his mother, 19-year-old Shaquatia Robinson, drowned. His grandmother, 47-year-old mother Luann Robinson, and 17-year-old Rishard Pyatt also died. Two others survived.
