Pastor Louise Goings of Outreach Family Fellowship in Dillon and Florence has released her latest book, which is titled, “When Your Dreams Don’t Come True.”
A book signing and concert will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Outreach Family Fellowship’s Family Life Center, 138 Pee Dee Church Road, Dillon.
Meanwhile, Friday Night Fire is going strong at Outreach Family Fellowship, with its next event scheduled for 10 p.m. Feb. 27 in Dillon.
Rodney Tremain Goings is the administrative elder at Outreach Family Fellowship.
“This time we will feature an awesome Christian comedian and minister out of North Carolina,” Goings said. “Her name is Toni Parker and she is known as ‘Mother Spirit.’”
Goings said Friday Night Fire is geared toward teenagers and young adults.
“This is an event that was birthed out of periodic events we would hold called a ‘Holy Ghost Party,’” he said. “For lack of a better comparison, it was somewhat like a Christian Club with gospel music, dancing, singing, open mic, poetry, inspirational speaking, food, non-alcoholic beverages, fun, games and fellowship.
“Our youth ministry took this idea and turned it into an event to be held one Friday night each month. For the last several months, we have been holding Friday Night Fires from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a primary focus on teenagers and young adults.”
And the Friday nights have really caught on fire. They have grown to where some 200 to 300 teens and young adults from throughout the Pee Dee are attending.
“We have had well over 15 high schools represented at these events from counties such as Dillon, Marion, Marlboro, Florence, Darlington, Charleston and Dorchester, as well as Robeson and Scotland counties in North Carolina,” Goings said.
“One high school in particular, Creek Bridge High in rural Marion County, expresses such high interest that we send our church bus to their high school to pick up students for the event. They send 40 to 50 students each time.”
Ourtreach Family Fellowship also sends two vans to pick up people to meet at its Florence location. Some residents of the Billie Hardee Home in Darlington have been among those attending.
“It is awesome to see all of these young people come together in a godly environment and to witness how the spirit of God pours out,” Goings said. “We have had numerous students to be saved, delivered, restored and strengthened in these meetings.
