Mullins searches for new police chief

»  Comments | Post a Comment

City of Mullins Police Chief Russell Bass resigned this past Friday because of health reasons, City Administrator Pete Rogers said Monday.
Bass will remain in the position until Feb. 20 and Chief Detective Capt. Michael Bethea will serve as interim chief.
Rogers said the city has begun advertising for the position. According to the city’s personnel department, Bass was hired as chief in June 2003.
The abrupt change is not something Bass wanted, nor was he forced out, Rogers said.
