Cooperation, collaboration and communication: More of each is needed, Tim Harper, Marion County Administrator, told about 35 elected county officials recently when they met for the first of four joint meetings.
To make sure county officials are on the same sheet of music and working toward common goals, they will meet in a joint session to hear about the issues facing the county.

Topics from their January meeting included an update on the building of Interstate 73, the possibility of money coming into the county from a federal government economic stimulus package and the shift in state taxes from property taxes to sales taxes and its impact on local governments.

The group's next meeting will be on April 30.
