Four Hartsville residents were arrested Wednesday after investigators recovered more than $4,000 in cash, drugs and stolen property, according to a press release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
Demetrus R. Samuel, 24, of 517 Hunter Drive; Taylor Watson, 21, of 403 Gandy Drive; and Tameka L. Jackson, 24, of 213 Wilkes Road are each charged with trafficking crack cocaine, according to Darlington County Detention Center booking reports.
Forrest Lenn Royal, 24, of 303 Washington St. is charged with distribution of crack cocaine, according to jail booking reports.
Hartsville police and Darlington County sheriff’s deputies conducted an undercover investigation Wednesday afternoon where they raided rooms at a local motel and initiated the traffic stops of several vehicles seen leaving the motel, Hartsville Police Chief Tim Kemp said.
About 32 grams of crack cocaine were found in one of the cars and on one of the suspects, he said.
Investigators also found about $4,000 in cash on one of the suspects.
Stolen goods, including two .45-caliber handguns, were also recovered during the investigation, according to the release.
“Anytime we can take guns away from drug dealers, it’s a win-win situation for all citizens,” Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd said.
