One person is dead and two others are injured after a crash outside of Bennettsville Wednesday, Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown said.

The identity of the 55-year-old woman is being withheld pending notification of family, he said.

Two other people were taken to a North Carolina hospital for treatment, Brown said.

The crash happened at about 11:45a.m. at the intersection of S.C. 38 and Old Wire Road, about 10 miles outside of Bennettsville, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins said.

The victim was a passenger in a 2005 Nissan Altima when the driver of that vehicle ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2006 Ford Expedition traveling South on SC 38, Collins said.

The crash is still under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
