A Maine woman is dead after a two-car crash on the U.S. Highway 17 Bypass Thursday night in Horry County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, it happened around 7:30 p.m. near the entrance to Queen's Harbor, not far from the S.C. Highway 544 interchange near Surfside Beach.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified the victim as 22-year-old Kimberly Richards of Westbrook, Maine. Willard said Richards and several other people involved in the crash were all visiting the Grand Strand for a weekend wedding.

Troopers say seven people went to the hospital following the crash, including Richards.

The crash is now being investigated by SC Highway Patrol MAIT.
