L. Dwight Floyd Jr., ra litigation partner with Parker, Poe, Adams and Bernstein LLP, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics.
Floyd, a Governor’s School alumus, specializes in commercial litigation, with an emphasis on science and technology issues.
“Not only is (Floyd) practicing law in areas critical for economic development, he is the first GSSM alum to serve on our board,” Governor’s School President Murray Brockman said in a press release issued by the school.
Dr. Richard N. Chapman, provost at Francis Marion University, also has been reappointed to the board.
Board members are appointed by the governor. They meet four times annually and serve as the policy-making entity for the school.
Founded in 1988 by Gov. Carroll Campbell and former Sonoco Products President Charles W. Coker, the residential public school is located in Hartsville. The school is ranked among the top 10 “public elite” secondary schools in the nation by Newsweek magazine.
